Charlene O Alexander

Charlene O. (Moore) Alexander, 87, of Hollansburg, Ohio passed away October 30, 2008 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. She was born April 1, 1921 daughter of the late Thomas L. and Gerthie (Royer) Moore.
Charlene was a graduate of Hollansburg High School in 1939 and graduated from Richmond Business School immediately after High School. She worked as a secretary until she was married to Maurice Alexander on June 7, 1947. Charlene and Maurice were farmers in the Hollansburg area. She was very involved in teaching people how to play the piano and organ. Charlene was very active in the Hollansburg Christian Church her entire life. She was an organist, pianist, Sunday School teacher, junior choir director, church board member and a Women’s Fellowship member. Charlene’s church family was very important to her. She was a 4-H leader for over 30 years, wrote poetry and children’s music and was an active reader.
Charlene is survived by a daughter, Marilea and husband Robert Meder of Grand Blanc, Michigan; a son, Barry and wife Christine Alexander of Hollansburg; a twin sister, Marlene Fowble of Greenville; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild many nieces and nephews, many in laws and special friends and caregivers Gladys Damon and Angela “Angel” McClurg.
In addition to her parents, Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Maurice Alexander on January 25, 2008; three sisters, Ollie, Mabel and Letha and a brother Harold.
Friends and family may visit from 3-5 p.m. on November 2, 2008 at the Storch Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 3, 2008 at the Hollansburg Christian Church in Hollansburg, Ohio with the Rev. Ron Hajarian and Pastor Joe Hanna being asked to officiate.
Family asked that memorial contributions be given to the Hollansburg Christian Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
