Charles William Drake

June 29, 1925 — July 17, 2017

Charles William Drake, Sr., 92, of Greenville passed away early Monday morning on July 17, 2017 at State of the Heart Care Center in Greenville.

Charles was born on June 29, 1925 in South Haven, Michigan to the late Harold and Dorothy (Doxtator) Drake, Sr.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra JoAnn Engle; a step daughter, Barbara Anne Kelley; brother, Harold Arthur Drake, Jr.; and sister, Gertrude Bell Veilik.

Charles served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. He was a lifetime member of the Greenville VFW and a member of the Southwest Ohio Radio Club. Charles was a retired truck driver for Badger Trucking of Wisconsin.

Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Snook) Drake of Greenville; his children, Denise Marie Drake of Las Vegas, Shannon Marie (Dave) Shepard of Elida, Charles William (Roxanne) Drake, Jr. of Orion, Michigan and John David Drake of Cridersville; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann (Bill) Evertt of Hartford, Michigan; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5 - 7 PM at the funeral home.
