Dale Eugene Crandall

Dale Eugene Crandall, 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.


He was born on December 5, 1944, in Morrison, Illinois, to the late Harold and Elizabeth (Stickel) Crandall.


In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Crandall, and his brother Harold Crandall.


Dale served his country honorably in the United States Army. He had a long and successful career in textile manufacturing. He started his career at Sears Manufacturing in Davenport, Iowa, then retiring from Troy Sunshade in Greenville, after many years of service. He also dedicated much of his time to volunteering and serving on several boards and civic organizations. He was a was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, the Knights of Columbus, and was a former president of the Rotary Club. He was quite the handyman and was a member of Toastmasters International for over 20 years. He was a FIAT hobbyist and a member of the FIAT Club of America. He hails from a large family and was the oldest of 20 first cousins.


Dale is survived by his wife and Sweetheart of 53 years, Theresa (Ciancarelli) Crandall, whom he married on May 3, 1969; his children, Mary (Christopher) Snyder of Bernardsville, New Jersey, Alicia (Scott Hohnstein) Crandall of Missoula, Montana, and his daughter-in-law, Jenny Siegrist of Celina, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Nicholas, Katie, and Kelsey; and his great grandson, Rhett. Dale is also survived by his siblings, Gail (John) Carrillo of Sterling, Illinois, Doug (Rachel) Crandall of Prophetstown, Illinois, Diana (Kent) Verkruysse of Prophetstown; and his sister-in-law, Pam Crandall of Rock Falls, Illinois; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, with Father Matt Feist celebrating. Burial, with full military honors provided by the Greenville Honor Guard, will follow at St. Mary's Church Cemetery.


Guests may visit with Dale's family on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a Rosary Service provided by the Knights of Columbus, immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus. There will be a short visitation on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either St. Mary's Catholic School, 238 W. Third Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331 or EverHeart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
