Daniel F. Amspaugh, 82, of Ansonia, OH, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Beamsville, OH, son of the late Z. Wileford and Lessie B. (Warvel) Amspaugh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn R. (Purtee) Amspaugh in 1975. Dan was graduate of Greenville High School and the Ohio State University. He had survived in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from New Idea Farm Implements in Coldwater where he had worked for over 30 years. He was a local photographer and did photos for the Ansonia Schools and the Scottish Rite in Dayton. He had served as mayor of Ansonia for 12 years, had served on the town council for Ansonia as well as the Ansonia Local School Board. He was a member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, the Darke County Republican Party of which he was named Republican of the Year in Darke County. He was very active in local and state politics, the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Scottish Rite. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Coral Amspaugh-Topolski and Eugene J. Topolski of Warsaw, IN; four sisters, Mary (Charles) Hart of Dayton, OH, Iona Amspaugh of Berne, IN, Thelma (Dean) Brewer of Greenville, OH and Danna (Roger) Miller of Versailles, OH; his longtime companion, Betty Brumbaugh; and 6 nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday, October 27 at 11 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH with Ms. Iona Amspaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 26 from 2-5 p.m. with the Versailles Masonic Lodge offering the Masonic Memorial Service at 4:45 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
