Dorothy H. Vogler

Dorothy H. Vogler, 87, of Ansonia, died at 8:00 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2015, at her home with her sons by her side.

She was born November 11, 1927 near Arcanum, OH. A daughter of the late Stephen Edward & Lulu Francis (Smiley) Commons. In 1947, she married Clarence Vogler in Covington, KY, who preceded her in death in 1993.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers & sisters: Mary Dean, William Commons, Ruth Locke, Treva Bidwell, John Commons, Martha Clapp, Margaret Hufnagle, Thomas Commons, Eugene Commons, Gladys Warvel, Fred Commons; In-laws, Ruby Pearson, Robert Vogler, Laveda Kinnison, Damon Vogler, Yvetta Engle and daughter-in-law Joie Vogler-Bussell.

She worked at Fram Corporation for 30.5 years, retiring January 1990. She was a member of the Ansonia United Methodist Church. She & Clarence raised a wide variety of animals, including 50 different types of birds. Dorothy was well known for her beautiful flower gardens and delicious peanut butter fudge. Her hobbies also included crocheting, sewing and various crafts. She was a jolly person with a warm smile and contagious laugh. She had a gift for making those around her feel special. She treasured time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Clarence (Judy)Vogler, Jr. of Lehigh Acres, FL and Rex Vogler of Ansonia; four grandchildren, Kim (Rick) Ware of Versailles, Kelly (Andy) Kunkler of St Henry, Chad Vogler of Naples, FL, Cheri (Kenny) Hallock of Cape Coral, FL; and eight great grandchildren, Richie, Jeffrey & Madison Ware, Abigail & Carolyn Dorothy Kunkler, Kathy Lee, Shelby, Cheyenne & Beau Vogler, Nikki & Nate Hallock, one sister, Marjorie Bishop of Greenville, two sisters-in-law: Karen Shaw of California, Wilma Vogler of Dayton, and numerous nieces & nephews.

A celebration of life will take place at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 – 1. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
