Douglas Allen Shaneyfelt

January 12, 1965 — June 6, 2020

Douglas Allen and Hope Ann (Miller) Shaneyfelt, of Union City, Indiana, left this world together on Saturday, June 6, 2020, in a tragic motorcycle accident.

Doug, 55, was born on January 12, 1965, to Josephine Preston of Union City, Indiana, and the late Dennis Lee Shaneyfelt.

Hope, 48, was born on October 10, 1971, to Bruce Miller of Richmond, Indiana, and the late Clara Lamb.

In addition to his father, Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Shaneyfelt; his stepfather, Jack Preston; and his best friend, Roger Tingley. In addition to her mother, Hope was preceded in death by her stepmother, Zora Miller. Doug and Hope were also preceded in death by their granddaughter, Lyla Brown.

Doug and Hope loved each other and did everything together. They were married on September 21, 2000 and shared 20 amazing years with each other. Riding was their passion, and they loved taking trips on their motorcycle. They were planning and looking forward to their next trip sometime in August to Pennsylvania. Doug was meticulous in planning their route, but it did not matter the destination as long as they were together. They also had several friends in local bands and enjoyed going to see them and listening to them play. They were avid Philadelphia Eagles fans, and Doug enjoyed classic cars and project vehicles. It is no surprise that family was what they valued most. Family came first and meant everything to them. They have left a tremendous void in the lives they have touched, but there is comfort knowing that they are together forever.

Doug and Hope leave behind their children, Kristian (Greg Leonard) Garwood of Union City, Indiana, Bruce Garwood of Greenville, Ohio, and Sabrina (Michael Brown) Shaneyfelt of Union City, Indiana; Doug's brother, Dennis Shaneyfelt of Piqua, Ohio; Hope's brother, Donald (Kelly) Miller of Williston, North Dakota; her sisters, Lisa Miller, Carolyn Angel, and Edith (Don) Cobb, all of Richmond; her best friends, Tammy Holden Tingley, Darla Miller, Beth Davis, and Peggy Hemmelgarn Dull; their furry babies, Macey and Miley; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Doug and Hope's life will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, June 12, 2020, with Pastor Dave Miller officiating, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow, at a later date, in Gettysburg Cemetery in Gettysburg, Ohio,
