George Allen Starks, Sr., age 70, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at home after a brief illness. He was born in Greenville, son of the late Earl and Gladys (Dunn) Starks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Starks. George retired from the Darke County Garage after 32 years of service. He was also and active member of the American Legion Post 140 and the VFW both in Greenville. George was a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles both of Greenville as well. He is survived by his significant other of 20 years, Mary E. Grewe of Greenville; children, George Starks, Jr. of Ansonia, Randy Starks of Florida, Tresea (Darren) Baker of Hollansburg, Tiffany Vietor of New Madison, Maggie (Parrin) Kennedy of Bluffton, Ohio, Ron (Melissa) Denlinger of Greenville, Joyce (Brian) Siders of Greenville, Tina (Rick) Leckey of Sidney, LeAnne Denlinger of Union City, IN, Darlene Conaster of Greenville and Charlene (Joe) Held of Waupan, WI; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Nickerson of Kentucky, Mary Jane Starks-Lizak of Hollansburg, Patricia Lawrence of Cambridge City, IN and Karem Mitchell of Union City, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville on Thursday, October 16 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given be made in his memory to the American Legion Post 140 Auxiliary (Christmas for Kids fund) in Greenville, Ohio.
