Joe Hunt

Joe Hunt, 76, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:30 PM at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on April 16, 1938 in Greenville, Ohio to the late George and Beatrice Blakeley-Hunt.

Joe was a retired, independent truck driver. He served our country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1957 - 1963. Joe was a member of the American Legion LeRoy Farst Post #245 in New Madison. All his extra time was devoted to his family.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by a son, Kraig Hunt, and a brother, Danny Hunt; brother-in-law, Bill Perry

Joe is survived by his wife, Cheryl Gary-Hunt of New Madison, whom he married on July 5, 1969; children, Kimberly and Steve Lawrence of New Madison, Kelly and Karen Hunt of Eldorado, Kent and Michelle Hunt of Greenville, and Todd and Karla Ellis of Arcanum; 11 grandchildren, Gary, Andrea, Natalie, Travis and Joel Hunt, Landon, Tristan and Jersey Hunt, Morgan, Hannah and Alivia Ellis; two sisters, Joan and Gene Dowler, and Bonnie Perry and significant other, Bill Burkett; a sister-in-law, Hattie Hunt; brothers-in-law, Fred and Sandy Gary, Ben and Joan Gary, and Ronald and Debbie Gary.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 5:00 PM at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison with Rev. Terry Hayworth being asked to officiate. Friends and family may visit also on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 3-5 PM prior to the funeral. Military Honors will be given at the time of the service. The family request memorial contributions be given to American Legion LeRoy Farst Post #245 in New Madison in honor of Joe.
