Nell Ruth Mathews

Nell Ruth Mathews, 76, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio.

She was born on August 14, 1946, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to the late Watha Cline and Exie (Sesco) Kendrick.

In addition to her parents, Nell was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Cline; and her sisters, Ruby Turner, and Charlotte Kimberlin.

Nell will be remembered for her love for her family. She was always caring for and providing a place for anyone who needed it. Nell took an active part in the lives of her children, being found on field trips, at field day, working concessions, helping with 4-H projects, and serving as a den mother. She also loved her animals, especially her many cats. After her children were grown, she continued her life of service working for Reid Hospital in Registration and in the Financial Assistance Office. She loved her crossword puzzles and very much enjoyed shopping for clothes.

Nell is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lonnie R. Mathews; her children, Terry Mathews, and Amanda (Donald) Wright, both of New Madison; her grandchildren, Brittany (Cory) Harris, Zachary (Renee Sandridge) Mathews, Chase (Anjelica Rameno) Mathews, Stevie Wright, and Samuel Wright, all of New Madison, and Cody (Mikaela) Wright of Oxford, Ohio; and her ten great grandchildren and one more on the way.

A celebration of Nell's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Cedar Grove Church, 373 Love Road, New Paris, Ohio 45347, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison.

Her family will be receiving guests on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 10 AM until the time of the service at noon at the church.
