Rodney N. Ricker

Rodney N. Ricker, 79, of New Madison, passed away on October 2, 2011 at his home with his loving family at his side. Rodney was born on February 5, 1932 to the late Charles and Nellie Ricker.
Rodney worked for many years as a glassworker at Corning Glass and was a 1950 graduate of Arcanum High School. Rodney honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Foresters and American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, farming, being outside in nature, John Deere tractors, and spending time with family especially his grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Rodgers) of New Madison; two sons, Rick and Kim Ricker of Greenville and Randy and Terry Ricker of Union City, Ohio; a daughter, Rhonda Lavy of New Madison; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Ricker; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rodney is preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Johnson and Merna Henninger; a brother, Galen Ricker; a great-grandson, Jorden Pond and a niece, Nancy Ricker.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 7-9 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2011 also at the funeral home with Chaplain Candy Null being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery with full military honors given by the Darke County Honor Guard. The family requests memorial contributions are given to Heartland Hospice with donations being accepted at the funeral home.
