T. J. Hostetter

March 16, 1933 — January 25, 2013

T.J. Hostetter, 79, son of the late Ruth (McVey) Hostetter and Glenn "Gloomy" Hostetter died January 25, 2013. He attended the Ansonia public schools and graduated from Columbia Military Academy, Columbia, TN in 1952.

Following high school graduation he attended Miami University, served in the U.S. Navy and worked in Boston, Mass.

At the age of 12 he was hired for his first magic show. He continued performing locally through his high school years. As an adult he did stand-up comedy, lectured on gambling, and transitioned to mentalism.

During his lifetime he collected and read over seven thousand volumes on such diverse subjects as jazz, architecture, philosophy and politics. He donated his extensive magic library to the International Brotherhood of Magicians. His final years were spent at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

There will be no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.
