W. Kennon Harmeson

W. Kennon Harmeson, 96, of Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Kennon was born June 17, 1914  in Randolph County, Indiana, son of the late Orville and Lulu (Locke) Harmeson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Gladys (Kaffenberger) Harmeson on June 29, 2010; a daughter-in-law, Sue Harmeson on August 16, 2010, and a brother in infancy. He was retired from Frigidaire in Dayton where he had worked for 35 years. He was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Recovery. He is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Don) Slyder of Ansonia; a son, James Harmeson of Rossburg; grandchildren, James Slyder, Thomas (Kathy) Slyder, Lynn (Kent) James, Kimberly (Jeff Wieser) Harmeson, Jeff Harmeson, Jason (Dannette) Harmeson and Justin (Tara) Harmeson; 12 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, November 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Recovery with Pastors Paul Young and Bruce Baer co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery near Ft. Recovery. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Brethren Retirement Community - Resident Aid Fund or State of the Heart Hospice.
