William R. Lingle, 69, of Port Richey, Florida and formerly of Darke County, passed away Saturday evening, September 13, 2008 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey, FL. He was born in Birdinhand, Penn., son of the late LeRoy Harrison and Dorothy Elizabeth (Simpson) Lingle. William had served in the US Army for 9 years after which he served in the Ohio National Guard prior to his retirement from the US Army Reserve in January of 1996 with the rank of Sergeant Major. An avid golfer, he retired from Delphi-Moraine where he had worked as a tool and die maker. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Ruth Sharon (Dohme) Lingle; two sons, Rick (Jane) and Bill (Dottie) Lingle; a daughter, Ann Durham; step children, Stanley Grilliot, (Kelly (Rob) Mundy, Susan (Rocky) Parkman and Nicole Jacobs; 28 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, September 22 at 10 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Peter Menke officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery, West Third Street, Dayton, OH at 1 p.m. Monday, September 22. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, September 21 from 2-4 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, 701 Medical Court East, Inverness, FL 34452.
