Carol Lynn Byrd

Carol Lynn Byrd, age 79, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Rest Haven in Greenville.

She was born on August 25, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Ralph and Berdine (Hunter) Byrd.

In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Ellison; the father of her children, Thomas K. Ellison; and her sisters, Josephine (Donald) Lehman, and Virginia Jones.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Beth (Darryl) Boyter of Greenville; her grandchildren, Brock (Brionna) Boyter of Greenville, and Brett (Chloe) Boyter of Versailles; her 3 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; her sister, Sue Byrd of Sun City, Florida; her brother-in-law, Dick Jones of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol worked for Sheller Globe for 26 years, until its closing. Afterwards, she worked for Peterman for many years, where she particularly valued and enjoyed helping the children.

She enjoyed going to the horse track and tending her flowers. She loved her politics. Carol was a devout Christian and treasured spending time at church.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating.

Guests may visit with the family from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Teegarden Cemetery.
