Carrie H. McCarroll

Carrie H. (Mattern) McCarroll, age 74, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026. 

Carrie was born on August 4, 1952 to the late Frank and Elsie Mattern.

In addition to her parents, Carrie is preceded in death by her husband whom she married April 25, 1970; her sister, Carol Hill; and brother, Carl Mattern. 

Carrie is survived by her children and their spouses, Yvonne and Edward Gresham of Georgia, and William and Ginger McCarroll of New Paris, Ohio; her grandchildren, CJ Zipperer, Lauren Youngblood, Megan McCarroll, Hannah McCarroll, and Gabrielle McCarroll; great-grandchildren, Nova, Tinley, Konway, Ayden, Valkyrie ,Ellie, Lorelai, Colton, and Oakland; sister, Mary Jane (Roger) Fuller; and other beloved family members.

She was an avid reader who found comfort and joy in the pages of a good book. She was also a woman of strong faith and a firm believer in her religion, carrying her faith with her throughout her life. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those precious moments with her family brought her immense joy, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.

A visitation will be held from from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville. 

A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville with Pastor Andrew Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Union Township, Ohio.
