Dennis D. Ross, age 74, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
He was born on September 1, 1951, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Robert and Naomi (Brown) Ross. Denny was raised in New Paris, Ohio, and was a proud graduate of the first graduating class of National Trail High School in 1969.
In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Bernard and Helen Herrmann; his sister-in-law, Tammy Ross; and his in-laws, Ed Herrmann and Tresa Davis.
Denny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary (Herrmann) Ross, whom he married on February 6, 1971, in New Paris. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Denny (Amy) Ross Jr. of Greenville; his cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Henry Ross, also of Greenville; his brother, Doug Ross of Richmond; and his in-laws, including Bernie (Sondra) Herrmann of New Paris, Betty (Mark) Weedy of Plain City, Ohio, Terry Davis of Eaton, and Cindy (Phil) HerrMann of New Paris. He also leaves behind his beloved Boxer, Brynlee Sue, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After marrying the love of his life, Denny and Mary made their home in New Madison, where they raised their son. Denny dedicated his career to the printing industry, working for several local companies including Allied and the Daily Advocate. He retired in 2012 after 15 years with Neff Lettering in Greenville.
Denny proudly served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975. A true outdoorsman, he took great pride in caring for his yard and property. He especially loved fishing, often sharing that passion with his son and grandsons. Denny also enjoyed playing cards and relaxing with classic Westerns on TV.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson, with Pastor Kyle Herrmann officiating.
