Edward W. Hill

Edward W. Hill, age 74, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Ascension – St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born on May 30, 1952, in Greenville to the late Rolland and Mary (Schlechty) Hill.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Hill.

Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Mong) Hill, whom he married on May 15, 1976; his daughters, Angela Hill of Greenville and Bridget (Tyler) Brown of Hollansburg; his grandchildren, Kina (Kody) Purvis, Kylei (Blaine Smith) Perry, Emma Perry, Jacob (Chole Graves) Hill, Morgan Brown, and Gracie Brown; his 12 great grandchildren; his siblings, Rodney (Patricia) Hill of Greenville, and Bernadett McMaken of Nashville, Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Lois Hill of Brookville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was a 1970 graduate of Westmont High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War era until his honorable discharge in 1974.

After returning home, Ed spent most of his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of the Greenville VFW, Greenville American Legion, and Greenville Moose, and was a dedicated member of the Greenville Honor Guard for many years.

Ed loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. He also enjoyed wood carving and tinkering in the garage. Most of all, Ed loved life and being around people. He was often known as “Hammer Head” because he never shied away from an opinionated conversation. Ed could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and made friends wherever he went.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus. Burial, will full military honors, will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Ed’s family on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home in New Madison. A Moose Lodge of Sorrow service will be held at 7:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Greenville Honor Guard.
