Forest “Bud” D. Glidewell, Jr., age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.
He was born on November 12, 1936, in Greenville, to the late Forest Glidewell, Sr. and Rose (Canady) Glidewell Fox.
In addition to his parents, Forest was preceded in death by his stepfather, Cornell Fox; and his brother, Bill Glidewell.
Forest is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann (Turner) Glidewell, whom he married on June 14, 1959; his sons, Tim Glidewell of Greenville, and Joel (Nichole) Glidewell of Burkburnett, Texas; his grandchildren, Dylan (Madelyn) Smith and Annelisa Glidewell; his great grandchildren, Makenzie, Rohen, Oliver, Charlie, Theodore, and Eleanor; and his brothers-in-law, Michael (Nancy) Turner of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Reynold Reeder of Appleton, Wisconsin.
Forest was a 1955 graduate of Greenville High School. Shortly after graduation, he began a career with DP&L as a lineman, dedicating more than 35 years of service before retiring.
He was a proud member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, the NRA, NMLRA, IBEW, NRA Whittington Center, Antique Power of the Past, Middletown Sportsman Club, and was formerly involved with the Treaty City Motorcycle Club.
Forest was an avid woodworker who took great pride in his craftsmanship. He also enjoyed restoring antique gas engines and building muzzle-loading rifles. In his spare time, he loved skeet shooting and spending time pursuing the hobbies that brought him joy.
A celebration of Forest’s life will be held at a future date.
