Frederick "Fred" Vincent Gary, age 82, of New Madison, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 29, 1944 in New Madison to the late Woodrow and Thelma (Clem) Gary.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Saundra "Sandy" Lee Gary; nephew, Kraig Hunt; granddaughters, Melanie Grace Cox and Allison Lee Gary; sisters in law, Debbie Gary and Pam Houck; and brothers in law, Joe Hunt and Robert Earich.

Fred is survived by his children, Mindy (Ron) Buhrman of Arcanum, Nathan (Lora) Gary of Sidney, Randy (Sandy) Cox of New Madison. Doug (Angie) Cox of Greenville, and Barb (Gary) Baker of Greenville; brothers, Ron Gary of Richmond, IN and Ben (Joan) Gary of New Madison; sister, Cheryl Hunt of New Madison; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life: fishing on quiet mornings, spending hours in his workshop woodworking, enjoying baseball, bird watching, and fixing anything that needed repair. He had a natural ability to work with his hands and took pride in making and mending things, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He deeply loved his farm and the peace it brought him. It was more than just a place to live, it was his sanctuary. One of his greatest pleasures was tending to his half-acre garden, where he spent countless hours nurturing what he had planted. Being outdoors, surrounded by nature, was where he felt most at home.

Above all else, Fred cherished his family. They were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride and happiness. The time he spent with them, whether in conversation, shared meals, or quiet moments together, meant everything to him. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the land, and the steady, caring presence he brought to those who knew him.
