George D. Furlong

George D. Furlong, 70, of Laura, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at his residence. George was born September 19, 1938 in Clarke Co., OH, son of the late Paul & Gladys (Hoke) Furlong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Stockslager. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Ithaca and the Darke Co. Area Emmaus. He was a former employee of Cadilac Gage and Fitzwater Tree Service, both of Greenville. George is survived by his wife, Mary Anne (Hendl) Furlong; 3 daughters, Kathy (Rick) Beam of Greenville, Georgianna (Rich) Klosterman of Bradford, Tammy Eldridge of Greenville; 2 sons, David (Pam) Furlong of Greenville, Bill (Penny) Stock of Greenville;12 grandchildren, Matt Nezley, Jeremy Netzley, Brian Beam, Stephen Klosterman, Chelsie Klosterman, Macie Riegle, Ashley Shannon-Marie Stock, Cassandra Stock, Katelyn Stock, Jacob Furlong, John Floyd, Ashley Floyd and Mindy Floyd; 5 great grandchildren, Brooke, Tyler, Jenna & Renee Netzley, Parker Beam; and 2 sisters, Mary Esther Whited of New Carlisle and Betty Haney of West Milton. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church, Ithaca with Revs Tim & Therese Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Oliver- Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The family request memorial contributions be given to the Darke Co. Cancer Assoc. or to any church of the donor's choice.
