Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Michael Brown, age 82, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2025.
Born on September 9, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Clarence J. and Agnes C. (Bertran) Brown.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sandra (Jones) Brown, whom he married on September 23, 1961. Sandra passed away on August 14, 2011. Jerry was also preceded by his siblings, Clarence “Sam” (Marilyn) Brown and Teresa Brown.
Jerry is survived by his devoted daughter, Jennifer “Jen” (Eric) Folkman of Chardon, Ohio; his grandsons, Matthew Folkman of Toledo and Michael Folkman of Columbus; and his sister, Hermina Lewis of Dayton and several nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Chaminade Catholic High School in Dayton, Jerry built a successful career as a paper salesman, retiring from Epedx Paper Company after many years of dedicated service. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Madison Township Fire Department in Trotwood, a role he held with pride and commitment. He achieved the rank of lieutenant.
Jerry had a deep love for the outdoors and was known for his flourishing gardens and his habit of planting trees wherever he lived, leaving behind a legacy of growth and renewal. He was an exceptional baker and found joy in working with his hands, whether in the kitchen or the soil.
A lifelong fan of Ohio State University Football and the Cleveland Browns, Jerry never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. He also had a soft spot for western films, especially those starring John Wayne, whose grit and loyalty mirrored Jerry’s own character. He enjoyed playing poker with friends and had a special fondness for horses and German shepherds, whose strength and spirit he admired. He was particularly close to his German shepherds Shane and Dakota.
Above all, Jerry was a family man. He adored his daughter and grandsons, and his love for them was evident in every conversation, gesture, and moment spent together. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
