Imogene Moores, age 98, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Arbor Trace Nursing Home in Richmond.
She was born on July 18, 1927, in Palestine, Ohio, to the late Van and Ethel (Miller) Wilcox.
In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Moores, whom she married on September 2, 1950; her siblings, Eileen (Chauncey) Slick, Myron “Bud” (Gloria) Wilcox, Millard (Betty) Wilcox, Annabel (Richard) Black, Nina Lou (Phil) Williams, Jim Wilcox, and Carrol “Butch” Wilcox; and her brother-in-law, James Hill.
Imogene is survived by her children, Becky (Larry) Adkins of Richmond, Rick Moores of Mesa, Arizona, and Lori (Eric) Laux of New Madison; and her four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Marthalea Hill of Richmond; her sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Wilcox of Greenville, and Barbara Wilcox of Arcanum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Imogene was a graduate of Hollansburg High School. Her greatest joy in life was her family and the home she lovingly created for them. She cherished spending time together, whether playing cards, working on puzzles, or enjoying crosswords. Imogene had a special talent for nurturing plants and found great happiness tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as caring for her yard.
For many years, she enjoyed mushroom hunting and lending a helping hand at Downing Fruit Farm. While she understood the value of hard work, Imogene also appreciated life’s quieter moments, often spending peaceful evenings on her front porch or traveling to new places. A devoted sports fan, she could always be found cheering on her favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
A celebration of Imogene’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Mr. Eric Laux officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hollansburg Christian Church.
