Jeannine attributed her strong will and determination to her grandmother, Mae Gruber, who raised her after she lost her mother at an early age. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. She loved them dearly and loved the time she was able to spend with them.

Jeannine and Bud moved back to their home town of Lima, Ohio, in 1999 to spend their retirement years with friends and family.
