Judith Ann Collins

Dec 7, 1943 — Oct 13, 2026

Greenville, Ohio

Judy Collins, 83, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on October 13, 2026 after a four year battle with pancreatic cancer. She fought like a warrior and we will always be thankful for the extra time we were able to have her in our lives.

Judith Ann (Dinwiddie) Collins was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio on December 7, 1943. She was welcomed into the world by her older sister Nancy, and her parents, Alvin and Julia (Kirchner) Dinwiddie. Judy graduated from Fairmont High School in 1962, working for the Kissell Company for the next seven years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she met dear, life long friends. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Carl William (Bill) Collins. Bill’s work took them north to Ansonia, Ohio in 1977, where mom became a dedicated, active member of the Ansonia United Methodist Church. She retired in 2004 from the Darke County Educational Service District after 24 years of service.

Mom’s infectious giggle and generosity were two traits members of the community knew well. In retirement, she volunteered her time at many local organizations. Judy read books to elementary school students in Ansonia and the Brethren Retirement Community. She staffed the gift shop at Bear’s Mill. She greeted and helped visitors at the Shawnee Prairie Preserve and Nature Center, and she gave countless hours to her church; volunteering for the food pantry, distributing weekly meals to the community, and serving on many church committees.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bill Collins, in December of 2023. She is survived by her daughters, Sarah and Shelly Collins, and her grandson Huck Randall, as well as many nieces and nephews, who know her as the “birthday card aunt.” Her calendar of birthdays is family lore, and it didn’t matter how old you were, you could always count on a birthday card from Aunt Judy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brethren Home Resident Aid Fund or the Darke County Foundation (formerly known as the HOPE Foundation of Darke County).

A Celebration of Life will be held for her on Saturday, December 5, 2026, 2pm, at The United Methodist Church in Ansonia.
