Keith "Slick" Schlechty

Greenville, Ohio

August 10, 1943 – June 5, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith “Slick” Schlechty, age 82, affectionately known by friends and family as “Slick”. Keith was born on August 10, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1961. He began his professional career at Sohio Gas Station and in 1964 joined United Telephone Company where he received multiple leadership awards and dedicated 44 plus years as a Central Office Network Technician.

Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. Schlechty and Ruth H. Schlechty; his brothers, Charles Schlechty, Paul Howdieshell and Marvin Howdieshell; and his sisters, Louise Sanders, Alice Wade, Imogene Dull, Mary Johnson and Marjorie Gilbert.

Keith is survived by the loved ones he left behind: his wife of 20 years, Sue (yes…he actually made it to 20); daughters, Kim (Clint) Falls; Lisa Schlechty; son, Charles (Penny) Schlechty. He was a proud grandparent to Evan Falls, Colby Schlechty, Lukas Schlechty, and Lynzie Schlechty; and his great-granddaughter, Adelynn Falls. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Schlechty. His bonus family includes Sue’s children, Troy Wombold (Teresa); Angie (Wayne) Hughes; grandchildren, Dustin, Lacie, Derek, Demi, and Dani; and four bonus great-children, Kenzie, Zoe, Bodie, and Binson; and past step children; Patti, Kevin, and James; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Slick could always be found outdoors: working in his garden, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was deeply involved with the Ohio Street Baseball Association and was the spearhead of the major renovation of the Ohio Street Baseball Diamonds. He managed the K of C Diamonds where lots of friendships were made through all the teams that played there. A bowler of several leagues, he was President of the Greenville Bowling Assn., a charter member of the Greenville Bowling Assn. Hall of Fame and a member of the Stillwater US Bowling Congress. Slick enjoyed contributing to the success of the Greenville Girls Softball Diamonds. He was an active member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, VFW, American Legion, and Turtle Creek where he specialized in “socializing”. Slick was also a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 143; and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, Ohio, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Guests may visit with Slick’s family on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. A Masonic Memorial Service by the Masonic Lodge, and a Scottish Rite Ring Service by the Valley of Dayton, and a Moose Lodge of Sorrow will begin at the conclusion of the visitation.
