Lonnie Michael "Mike" Mayse Jr., age 77, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN.
He was born on March 21, 1948 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Lonnie and Patricia (Ford) Puterbaugh.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie Mayse; his children, Ashley Lewis and Terry Grilliot, Jessica and Tony Best, Randy Balcom, Missy (Melissa) Mayse Clem (Jason), Loni Mayse, Steven Mayse, and Michael Mayse; grandchildren, Cameron Grilliot, Chase Grilliot, Autumn Best, Brody Best, Taylor Salazar (Robert), Gabrielle Balcom, Kristen Balcom, Alex Balcom, Kassidy Kasperski (Robert), Kamdyn Klingensmith (Daman), Landon Clem, Jordan Clem (Ashley), Chandler Clem, Madison LaFave, Peyton LaFave, Brice Phipps, Jaden Wente, and Zade Simon. His legacy also lives on through his cherished great-grandchildren: Zilly, Lydia, Rory, Auria, and Kai; and his siblings, Tim Puterbaugh, Debbie Puterbaugh, Diane Bayless, Susan Prince, and Cindy Puterbaugh.
If you knew him, you knew he enjoyed life and the people around him. He was well known by so many and truly never met a stranger. He was the kind of person who showed up when you needed him and gave what he could without hesitation.
Driving was a big part of his life. He spent many years as a dump truck driver and genuinely loved his work. In fact, he was one of the oldest dump truck driver still working in the area.
He loved racing, but dirt track was home. Whether it was the modified race car or go-karts, he was the heart and soul of our racing team. He loved the noise, the smell, the competition, and being a part of it all.
And if there was a grandkids' sporting event, you could count on him being there too, cheering them on and showing up proudly.
Though his checkered flag flies and his race has finished, the legacy of his stories, his laughter, and his love for his family and friends will live on in all of us.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help offset expenses.
