She was born on April 12, 1943 in Portland, MI to the late August Nowitsch and Elizabeth (Patsy) Pachika.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her son, Shawn Hemmerich and brother in law, Gary Byrum.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Mike (Sarah) Hemmerich and Sherri (Kyle Van Culin) Hemmerich; grandchildren, Nathaniel Hemmerich, Olivia Hemmerich, and Tristen Hemmerich; siblings, Anna (Pete) Mote, Betty Byrum, and John (Connie) Nowitsch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from Union City Westside High School. She worked for 22 years at GE Aviation, where she retired from in 2010. Mary enjoyed being home and taking care of her children on her time away from work.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the funeral home with Minister Matt Auker officiating.
