Michael "Mike" Duane Filby

Michael D. Filby, 64, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away, peacefully, on Monday, June 1, 2020, at his home.

He was born on August 8, 1955, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Vernie and Mary Ann (Unger) Filby.

Mike was a 1974 graduate of Tri-Village High School, where he enjoyed playing football and was known as Mike "the Brute" Filby. He was a car enthusiast and had the need for speed. He was passionate about drag car racing and would take anything fast down the track. He spent his life working on cars and would talk about cars to anyone who would listen. Mike loved the country life and being outdoors with his family and beloved dogs.

Mike is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" (Thompson) Filby, whom he married on June 5, 1982; his 4-legged children, Mr. Boots and Bo; his brothers, John Filby and his wife, Brenda, of New Madison, and Allen Filby and his wife, Sharon, of New Madison; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison.

The family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus, with the final arrangements.
