Michael Wayne Shilt

Michael Wayne Shilt, age 68, of Union City, Ohio, passed away peacefully after hearing his daughters voice, on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Union City Care Center.

He was born on July 12, 1958 at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas to Kenneth W. Shilt of Arcanum and the late Wanda J. (Dull) Shilt.

In addition to his mother, Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Herschel and Ruth Shilt; step-grandparents, Harold and Alice Wentworth of Ansonia; and grandmother, Ruby Newcomb Dull.

In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his step-mother, Connie Shilt of Arcanum; his daughter, Chelsie (Michael) Dodson of Laura, OH; granddaughter, Addie Dodson of Laura; siblings, Douglas Shilt of Fort Loramie, OH, Bruce Shilt of Greenville, and Christopher (Annie) Shilt of Covington; step-siblings, Mindy (Ron) Buhrman of Arcanum, Nathan Gary of Sidney, OH, and Bradley (Missie) Shilt of Arcanum; special friend, Darrah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael graduated from Arcanum High School and Montgomery County JVS in 1975. Following high school, he moved to Arizona for several years, where he worked building swimming pools. After returning home, Michael worked at Wholesale Carpet Outlet in Gettysburg, OH, where he laid carpet and tile. For many years, he worked in construction and bricklaying for Benanza Custom Homes in Arcanum.

Michael cherished the time he spent with his daughter and treasured the many years he lived at Wayne Lakes. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Above all, Michael will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the memories they shared together.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
