Neal B. Crawford, age 67 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Wayne Hospital.
He was born on November 29, 1957, in Greenville, to Norma Jean (Pretzman) Crawford of Arcanum, and the late Donald E. Crawford.
In addition to his mother, Neal is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane (Ritz) Crawford, whom he married on November 12, 1982; his siblings, Connie (Phil) Watson of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, and Gary Crawford of Arcanum; his sister-in-law, Totty Davis of New Madison; his mother-in-law, Joan Rtiz of Greenville; his in-laws, Susan (Rick) Threewits of Union City, Ohio, Gary Ritz of Cincinnati, and Colton (Jennifer) Ritz of Evansville, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Neal was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Bruce and Marjorie Ritz; and his in-law, Galen Ritz (infant).
Neal was a 1976 graduate of Arcanum High School. In his early years, he worked alongside his father and Dale Hawkey in construction, learning the value of hard work and craftsmanship.
The majority of Neal’s professional life was devoted to Youth For Christ of the Miami Valley, where he served as Executive Director for over 38 years—a role he deeply cherished. His passion for ministry and his heart for youth was evident in everything he did. Neal found great joy in helping guide young people in their faith journey, often speaking at churches and events to inspire the next generation of faithful followers.
After retiring, Neal’s energy and drive led him to start his own handyman business, “Neal’s Handyman”, where he continued serving others in practical and meaningful ways.
In his free time, Neal loved riding his bicycle and taking many trips, embracing the adventure in life. A devoted Cincinnati Reds fan, he rarely missed a game and enjoyed cheering on his team. He also loved playing cards and games with family and friends—often with a competitive edge that made for lively gatherings.
Neal had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and was known as a wonderful storyteller. His stories, laughter, and legacy of service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Neal’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery.
