Paul David Nicholson

Paul David Nicholson, commonly known as Nick, 69, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

He was born on November 13, 1952, in Winchester, Indiana, to the late Claude and Vergie (Brown) Nicholson.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his siblings, Martha Robbins and Fred Nicholson.

Dave was a 1971 graduate of Randolph Southern High School in Lynn, Indiana. He attended a tech school where he developed a skill for welding. Dave worked for the glass factory in Winchester for 47 years, until he retired in 2017. Dave was an avid collector and was known for his love of auctions and cast-iron skillets. He spent many days searching for cast-iron skillets, and it was not uncommon for people to call Dave and ask for his help in buying a cast-iron skillet and properly seasoning it. He also enjoyed auto racing, both NASCAR and local dirt and asphalt racing.

Dave was a people person and enjoyed socializing with others. He was a member of every club in town and enjoying stopping in for a drink and to say hi. Dave was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity in Winchester, and the Elks Lodge #1139, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2177, Loyal Order of Moose #329, VFW Post #7262, American Legion Post #140 all of Greenville. Dave was also an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.

Dave is survived by his children, Heather Hoff of Union City, Indiana, Aaron (Juliana Baseman) Nicholson of Milwaukie, Oregon, and Nicole (Justin) Landon of Warsaw, Indiana; his grandchildren, Madalena (Michael Teclaw) Nicholson, Ida Zeller, Grace Grote, and Grace Landon; one great grandchild with one on the way; his siblings, Maurice (Rosa) Nicholson, Azel Creech, Terry (Carla) Nicholson, Charlie (Marcie) Nicholson, all of Lynn, Indiana; his beloved dog, Hazel Mae; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville with Father Matt Feist celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

A reception of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. An Elks and Moose Lodge of Sorrow will be held on Thursday, beginning at 7:00 PM. The family will greet guests on Friday from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM in the vestibule of the church.

In lieu of flowers, it was Dave's wishes that memorial contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County, PO Box 781, Greenville, Ohio 45331, or St. Mary's Catholic School, 238 W. Third Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
