Paulette Smiley, age 70, of Union City, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
She was born on October 27, 1954, in Union City, Indiana, to the late Paul and Phyllis (Hindsley) Smiley.
In addition to her parents, Paulette was preceded in death by her siblings, Phillip Smiley and Margaret Brown.
Paulette is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jonathan Hinkle, whom she married on September 30, 2005; her siblings, Melanie (Bruce) Warner of Gloucester, Virginia, and Lori (Scott) Goubeaux of Greenville; her brother-in-law, Joe Brown of Troy, Viriginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paulette dedicated over 15 years of her life to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, where her commitment and diligence were evident until her well-deserved retirement in 2018. A vibrant spirit, she embraced the simple joys of life, including her passion for shopping, particularly her love for Amazon, and her delightful pastime of adult coloring books, which provided her with endless hours of creativity and relaxation. Not only did Paulette have a zest for life, but she also possessed a soft heart for animals, especially dogs, exemplifying her compassionate nature. Her warm smile and loving demeanor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private family burial will take place in Lisbon Cemetery.
