Raymond E. Johnson

Raymond "Eddie" Edward Johnson, age 77, of Versailles, passed away on June 5, 2026, at Versailles Rehab and Healthcare Center.

He was born on August 28, 1948, in Darke County, to the late Robert E. Johnson and Rosa "Pauline" (Karn) Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann (Fox) Johnson, whom he married on December 12, 1970, and who passed away on July 9, 2022; his son, Scott Edward Johnson; his siblings, Rosie (Steve) Petty, Becky Johnson, and Robert "Bob" Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Pat Johnson.

Eddie is survived by his son, Michael (Rebecca) Johnson of Greenville; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Howard, Kevin Nickson, and Jerrica (Timothy) Gahret; his nine great grandchildren; and his siblings, Marvin Johnson of Greenville, Marion Johnson, of Greenville, Charles "Chuck" Johnson of Dayton, Rita (Richard) Melling of Fairborn and Elaine Johnson-Jones of Camden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie worked in housekeeping at Wayne Hospital. In his free time, Eddie enjoyed playing bingo, spending time fishing, and never missed an opportunity to strike up a conversation...especially with the ladies.

One of Eddie's greatest passions was walking. Whether enjoying a stroll through town or participating in a meaningful cause, he loved being on the move. He was actively involved with Relay For Life, dedicating his time and energy to raising funds and awareness for the fight against cancer through the American Cancer Society.

Above all, Eddie was known for his kind and generous heart. He was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His selfless nature, warm spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Dane Driver officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Guests may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
