Richard "Dick" Dearing, 79, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his home. 

He was born on October 20, 1943, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Geraldine (Unger) Dearing.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his grandsons, Alexander Flora and Andrew Flora; and his brother, Ronald Dearing.

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley (Chenoweth) Dearing, whom he married on March 18, 1967; his children, David (Rehema) Dearing of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, and Lori (Mark) Flora of Troy, Ohio; his grandsons, Adam (Megan) Flora, Isaac (Jaclyn) Flora, and Harrison Dearing; his siblings, Pat (Gordon) Platt, Jeanette (Gary) Russell, and Susan Lutz; his sister-in-law, Madonna Dearing. He is also survived by his in-laws, Donn (Kathy) McCoy, Jan (Hector) Salazar, Steve (Nancy) Chenoweth, and Roger McCoy.

Dick was a 1961 graduate of Arcanum High School. He worked for General Motors for 32 years until he retired in 1997. In his free time, Dick loved being with his family and traveling the world. In fact, he has been to all 50 states and 56 different countries. Many of his travels were connected to the countless hours of mission work that he completed around the world. From building bricks for houses to digging wells for those in need, Dick's heart was a caring heart. Dick was also known for his love of classic cars. He developed many friends around the country and has owned and restored several jaguar cars throughout the years. Shirley and Dick were a part of Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, Ohio for 34 years, and now worship with City Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

A celebration of Dick's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Dick's son-in-law, Mark Flora, officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. 

Guests may visit with Dick's family on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be given to EverHeart Hospice, 1350 E. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
