Robert “Bob” E. Onkst, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Trustwell Living at Oakley Place in Greenville.
He was born on November 15, 1942, in Greenville, to the late Melvin and Neva (Wagner) Onkst.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Dixon) Onkst on February 4, 2011; his siblings, Beverly Lees, James (Margie) Onkst, and Gerald (Pat) Onkst.
Bob is survived by his children, Rex Onkst of Greenville, and Tami (Doyle) Derr of Piqua; his grandchildren, Brittlei (CJ) Harrison, Tyler Onkst, Trenton Onkst, Holly Gantt, and Macy (Devin) Alt; his great grandchildren; Chloe, Maylee, Dallas, and Layla; and his brother, Chris (Linda) Onkst of Greenville.
Bob was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High School. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably.
After returning home, Bob worked as a salesman for many years before later joining Expedited, where he delivered medical equipment.
Bob was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 66 in Covington, as well as a member of the American Legion. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found at Flap Jacks Restaurant, enjoying a Maid-Rite sandwich, or visiting the local pawn shops, where his love for antiques was well known. Many of his pieces could be found displayed on their walls.
At this time, no services are being planned.
