Roberta Blair

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roberta Blair, who departed this life on May 19, 2025, just shy of her 92nd birthday. She was born on May 26, 1933, in Indiana, to the late Eli and Chloe (Smith) Tompkins.

Roberta lived a remarkable life filled with love, resilience, and dedication. She was a cherished mother, sister, and grandmother, making her home in New Madison, Ohio, where she created lasting memories with her family.

In addition to her parents, Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Blair; daughter, Agnes Blair; and her siblings, Albert, EB Jr., Bessie, Dora, Annalee, Esther, Joan, and Mary Alice.

Roberta is survived by her beloved daughters, Cheryl Miller and Michele (Jeff) Frech; grandchildren, Chad Clevenger, Derrick Clevenger, Jessie Hall (Curtis Case), and Emma Rademachir; great-grandchildren, Isaak Clevenger, Taylor George, Hayli Clevenger, Lillian Case, and Dakota Case; great great-grandchildren, Moira and Freya; and brothers, Lester and Thomas Tompkins.

Roberta's journey through life was marked by her unwavering spirit and strong work ethic, having devoted many years to various jobs. Roberta will be remembered for her warmth and her dedication to her loved ones. On top of working full-time jobs, Roberta took care of her daughter, Agnes, full-time.

She was known for always being outside, whether that would be enjoying a walk, mushroom hunting, swimming, gardening, or just soaking in the sun. Roberta was an avid plant lover; she spent a lot of time tending to her outdoor flowers as well as all her house plants. She enjoyed a good card game. Roberta participated in many local card tournaments and helped organize cards at the American Legion. Roberta became very involved with the American Legion in her later years.

Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In honor of Roberta, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice in her memory.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Harrison Street Baptist Church, 140 Harrison Street, New Madison, OH 45346.

A Celebration of Roberta's Life will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Eric Fee officiating.
