Robin E. “Rob” Poling, Age 72, of Corning, OH, and formerly of Hollansburg, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus, OH, surrounded by his immediate family.
He was born July 29, 1953, in Union City, IN to the late James & Reva (Foreman) Poling. On March 9, 2008, he married his wife, Rebecca J. "Becky" Poling. Rob and Becky were married for just over 17 years, and Becky survives in Corning, OH.
In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his sister, Lorelei E. “Lori” Rammel.
Those left to cherish Rob’s memory include his three children: Christine (David) Rich of Lewisville, IN; Angeline Poling (James "Jim" Hoefflin) of West Chester, OH; and Jeorgene Gaddy of Union City, IN; and one brother and his wife, Monte and Vivian Poling of Winchester, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chance Mann, Zachary (Anna) Poling, Joshua Rich, Amber Rich, Yoseh Gaddy, and Seth Gaddy; and two great-grandchildren: Theodore Mann and Micah Poling.
Rob attended Westmont in Hollansburg, OH. He later completed his GED and earned a degree in Automotive Mechanics from Ivy Tech in Richmond, IN. Rob worked for Sheller Globe in Union City, IN for 25 years serving as Union Steward. He moved on to take over the family business in Hollansburg, OH, managing and running Jim’s Union 76. Following the close of the family business, Rob went on to complete his career as part owner of Christopher’s Auto Repair in Richmond, IN. Rob thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and helping others.
Rob’s true passion started after retiring from the automotive business. Rob had a passion for sharing the word of God with anyone, it didn’t matter if they were a friend or stranger. He wore a Jesus hat every time he left the house in hopes to have the opportunity to share the word of God with anyone. He became an active member of the Lighthouse Bible Ministries in New Lexington, OH, where he became part of a second family, serving the church in any way possible from cleaning to mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, being the first one to open the church on each Sunday so it was ready for the congregation. He loved his church family.
When he wasn’t sharing the word of God, he was volunteering his time at the local food bank in Corning, OH. He spent his time going from one business to another, picking up food using his truck and trailer, delivering to the food bank, unloading, and passing out food to the local community. His eyes were full of life serving others and sharing the word of God. He was a friend to everyone.
A celebration of Rob's life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus.
