Ronald M. Widener

Ronald Miller Widener, age 79, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away at his home on May 5, 2026, with his family at his side.

He was born on June 26, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late John and Evelyn (Mitchell) Widener.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert, Eddie, Sue, Raymond, John, and Roselynne.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathy (Culver) Widener; his children, Rob (Jeri), Denny (Dana), Joe (Angie), and Chris (Sheri); his grandchildren, Robbie (Tara), Jerrod (Katherine), Josh (Nikki), Mark, Trenton, Brett, and Evan; his great grandchildren, Macie, Bailey, Henry, Jenna, Jeremiah, and expecting twins; and his siblings, Sharon Widener, Dann "Slug" Widener, and James Widener.

Ronald was a 1964 graduate of Ansonia High School. He was a career auto mechanic. He worked for Smith's Chevrolet, spent 25 years working as a bus mechanic for Ansonia and worked 25 years at NAPA in Versailles. He also worked for and retired from Ansonia Auto Parts.

Ronald was dedicated to serving his community. He was a volunteer firefighter for Rossburg Fire Department for 40 years; he also served as the Rossburg police chief, and the Rossburg mayor. Not satisfied with simply serving in emergency services and town government, Ronald also volunteered in the soup kitchen.

Ronald cherished his time spent with his grandkids and great grandkids. He had a great sense of humor, something that he passed down to many of his children and grandchildren. He had a special interest in old cars, particularly his '57 Chevy. Ronald was a member of Rossburg Community Church.

A celebration of Ronald's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Tribute Funeral Homes, with Pastor Tony Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 12:00 PM on Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Rossburg Fire Department, Ansonia Rescue Squad, or EverHeart Hospice.
