After high school graduation, she entered the local work force and remained in Greenville until her marriage to James Neighbors, a member of the Armed Forces. They divorced later in life but remained friends.
Sandy was very patriotic and enjoyed the travel of being a military wife. Two of her favorite military stays were the times they were stationed in Alaska and Germany. Sandy always kept busy and one of her favorite jobs was traveling with the circus selling tickets and promoting their events. She loved old homes and while living in Lima, OH, she not only worked in the Property Management Field but rehabilitated an old mansion. Upon returning to her hometown of Greenville, she worked for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), and most recently for Goodwill helping with job placement. Sandy had a big heart and passion for helping take care of people. This showed through her many volunteer jobs at the Veterans Affairs, Red Cross, Hospice, S.O.A.R Abuse and Rape, and Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Sandy was also a part of the Toast Masters in Greenville.
Sandy loved gardening, dancing, and crafting. She worked many hours at her family’s business, Dunns Hobby Shop, making various crafts & ceramics. Family and friends were the most important to Sandy, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid pet lover. A big accomplishment of Sandy's was having one of her poems published in a magazine. Sandy attended Trinity Wesleyan Church for many years.
