Scott (Scotty) Alan Briner, 61, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
He was born on June 10, 1964, in Greenville.
Scotty will be dearly missed by his wife, Tracy Ann (Holderman) Briner, who he married on October 24, 1997; children, Felicia (Chris) Gibson of Morrow, OH, Christopher Briner of Greenville, Joshua (Danielle) Holderman of Fairfield, OH, Shayla (Peter Harmon) Goines of Columbus, and Aaliyah (Cameron) Lucy of Ansonia; his grandchildren, Nakiah, Charlie, Aiden, Jaxon, Selah, and Kensley; his father, Robert “Bob” (Judy) Briner of Fort Recovery; and his siblings, Steve Morton of Greenville, Kevin Briner of Vandalia, Michelle (Chris) Dirksen of Fort Recovery, Lori Schlarman of Fort Recovery, and Kyle (Molly) Briner of Fort Recovery.
He was a graduate of Mississinawa Valley High School. He earned his associate’s in industrial maintenance engineering. He previously worked at Advanced Composites in Sidney. He currently was the plant maintenance manager at Continental Carbonic in Greenville. Scotty was a proud Army Veteran, having served during the Grenada conflict, as a part of the Night Stalkers. He was awarded a bronze star for his service.
Scotty didn't know how to sit still: he was a member of the Toast Masters, attended Dawn Community Church, and an amazingly creative soul. Scotty was a writer and a published author of a children's book. He was also published in the trade magazine, Machinery Lubrication. He especially loved writing poetry; one of Scotty's poems is in the Library of Congress. In addition to his accomplishments as an author, Scotty was a very accomplished trumpet player. Notably, he performed at the Cincinnati Red's Stadium during the opening ceremony and was the second runner up when he auditioned for the Saturday Night Live band.
Scotty will be remembered in his community for his huge, compassionate heart; he never missed an opportunity to help someone out. In his down time, Scotty loved to spend time outdoors, especially camping and hiking with his family, or riding his Harley Davidson. Scotty's world was his family; he and Tracy were inseparable.
A celebration of Scotty's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor George Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Ansonia Cemetery with full military honors.
