Greenville, Ohio

Stacy Elizabeth (Schmitz) Dorko, age 39, of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Though her journey was difficult, she met every challenge with strength, grace, and an unwavering love for her family.

She was born on March 31, 1986, in Coldwater, Ohio, Stacy was the cherished daughter of Kenneth Schmitz and Jean (Davenport) Borton.

Stacy is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Bruce Schmitz; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Davenport; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Alvera Schmitz; her aunt, Mary Jo Braun; and her brother-in-law, Craig Schutte.

Those who were blessed to love Stacy include her children, Evan and Karlie Dorko, who were the center of her world; her stepdaughter, Madisyn Dorko; her brother, Michael (Christie) Schmitz; her sister, Charlene Schutte; and her nieces, Kaitlyn and Halley Schmitz, and Taylor and Kennedy Schutte. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members who adored her.

Stacy’s greatest joy came from time spent with her children: quiet moments, shared laughter, long car rides, and simple days together were the memories she treasured most. She expressed her creativity in so many ways: crafting, crocheting, decorating beautiful cakes, and scrapbooking the memories she held dear. She also loved to be outdoors, especially when she could spend a peaceful day fishing. Her warmth, her smile, and her caring spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made in Stacy’s honor to the Cancer Association of Darke County or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
