Thelma Lucille (Hollinger) Baker, age 97, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Brookdale Senior Living, Greenville.
She was born on October 12, 1927 in Greenville to the late Ora Ray and Rebecca (Smith) Hollinger.
In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul R. Baker; son, Dennis Baker; and sister, Mary Dietrich.
Those left to cherish Thelma's memory include her son, Gary (Irene) Baker of Lebanon, OH; grandchildren, Chris (Jenny) Baker, Jeff (Krisy) Baker, Laurie (Mike) Ritter, Jenny (Kevin) West, and Shawn Baker; great grandchildren, Christian, Olivia, Taylor, Colin, Owen, Caleb, Tristian, Caleb, Alley, and Rissa; numerous great great grandchildren; faithful daughter in law, Roberta Boney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thelma was raised on a farm in Greenville. She walked to a one room schoolhouse, Concord School, for eight years. Thelma graduated from Greenville High School in 1949. She worked at various jobs before her marriage to Paul R. Baker in 1949. Over the next 5 years, two sons were born and Thelma became a stay at home mom.
Thelma began raising puppies and that turned into her grooming business, Poodle Parlor. She owned that business for 20 years and did that along with running her home. Thelma retired in 1980 and spent the next 28 years wintering in Florida in their motor home. During that time, she adopted Charlie the duck who she cared deeply about. Another passion of Thelma's was her flowers and gardening; she raised all their vegetables and fruit.
More than anything, Thelma loved her family and made sure to always put them first.
