Wilma Fay Gehron, age 96, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Brethren's Retirement Community.
She was born on April 4, 1929, in Mercer County to the late John C. and Ruth (Fox) Coate.
Wilma shared a long and loving life with her husband, Forest "Frosty" Gehron, whom she married on October 25, 1947. Together, they built not only a family, but a life rooted in hard work, partnership, and devotion. Side by side, they owned and operated several businesses, including Frostys Delivery Service, where Wilma could often be found behind the wheel of a delivery truck. They also owned Trail Boss Campground and operated dude ranches, creating lasting memories for many. Wilma later worked for many years as a store clerk at Miller Enterprises, where she was known for her friendly nature and strong work ethic.
Above all, Wilma's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with those she loved. She found happiness in life's simple pleasure, fishing, go-karting, oil painting, and sewing, always bringing creativity and warmth into everything she did.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frosty; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Michael McNutt; her son-in-law, Jackie Morgan; her sister, Janet Boyer; her brother, Roger Lee Coate; her grandson, Bryan McNutt; and her grandson in law, Dennis Hammons.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Marsha (Steven) Thornburg of Greenville, Cathy (James) McGlinch Berger of Versailles, and Faith Gehron-Morgan of Florida; her grandchildren, Jamie (Kelley) McGlinch, Kimberly (Timothy) Dagenais, Dawn (Arthur) Fleming, Tracy Hammons, and Joey (Kelly) Daniell; and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love and guidance.
Wilma will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, kindness, and the unwavering love she gave to her family.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Brethren's Home Residents Aid Fund or EverHeart Hospice.
